Mr Angus Thomson
Hastings Boys' High School 1988 - 1992
Angus began his career as an orchardist, working in the industry from 1993 to 1998. In 1998, he joined his family's business, Thomson’s Suits, where he now serves as the Managing Director. The family tradition began in 1957 when Mick Thomson opened Thomson's Suits Limited, providing suits, jackets, business clothing, and fine men's wear to the Hastings and wider Hawke's Bay community. The shop, initially less than a quarter of its current size, has grown significantly over the years. Mick's son Michael joined the store in 1967, and Angus followed in 1998, ensuring that the Thomson tradition continues.
Angus's hobbies revolve around spending time with his family and enjoying the outdoors. He is passionate about fishing of all types, hunting, diving, tramping, boating, and BBQing. He is also committed to enhancing the Pekapeka Swamp and is an active member of the Hastings Karamu Rotary Club.
