Mr Mason Summerfield
Headmaster
Mason grew up in Christchurch and graduated from Lincoln University in 1994. His first teaching position was at Massey High School in West Auckland, and he moved to Central Hawke's Bay College in 2001. He then served as Head of Science, Boarding Master, and Acting Assistant Rector at Lindisfarne College. For the previous 8.5 years, Mason was the Deputy Principal at Rathkeale College in Masterton.
He currently holds the role of Headmaster at Hastings Boys' High School.
Mason has a Master’s in Secondary School Leadership, a Postgraduate Certificate in Digital and Collaborative Teaching, a BSc, and a Diploma in Teaching.
In his personal time, Mason enjoys spending time with his family, working in the garden, keeping fit through running, reading, and watching any sport—except golf!
His passion lies in boys' education, which he has been deeply involved with for almost 20 years. Mason is dedicated to providing boys with what they need to succeed and aspires to be a "boylogist."
