Mr Peter Valentine (Paddy) Twigg
Hastings Boys' High School Foundation Trustee
Peter Valentine (Paddy) Twigg attended Hastings Boys' High School from 1963 to 1966. He graduated with an MB, ChB from Otago in 1972 and began his career in General Practice in Hastings in 1976, initially in a surgery on Southland Road before becoming a founding partner of the Hastings Health Centre. During the 1990s, he was a member, then chairman, of the HBHS Board of Trustees.
After retiring in 2014, Paddy moved to Wellington to be closer to his grandchildren. He enrolled at Te Herenga Waka–Victoria University of Wellington in 2016, where he earned a BA in Art History and Italian, followed by a Master’s in Intercultural Communication and Applied Translation. He is currently completing a PhD in Literary Translation.
Paddy is employed part-time by the NZ Defence Force as a Decision Officer in their Veterans’ Affairs office. In addition to his involvement with the HBHS Foundation, he is also a trustee of the Futuna Chapel Trust.
In his free time, Paddy enjoys being involved in his grandchildren’s activities and Wellington’s cultural life. He also enjoys reading, listening to music, and spending time outdoors, exploring local bush areas and appreciating the native birdlife.
Paddy has a strong interest in languages, literature, history, and politics.
