Wall of Fame Criteria
Why the Wall of Fame?
Recognition and Validation: Being featured on the Wall of Fame is a validation of one's work, dedication, excellence and outstanding contribution nationally and internationally. This recognition boosts students' confidence and self-esteem, reinforcing the idea that their efforts are valued and appreciated by the school community.
Inspiration and Aspiration: The Wall of Fame showcases the accomplishments of past students, serving as a source of inspiration for others. Seeing the names and faces of those who have excelled can ignite a spark of ambition in students, motivating them to set goals, work hard, and strive for their own success. It creates a culture of aspiration where students are encouraged to reach their full potential.
Sense of Belonging and Pride: The Wall of Fame fosters a sense of belonging and pride in their school community. This sense of pride extends beyond individual achievement to a collective pride in the school's overall excellence.
Encouragement of Healthy Competition: The presence of a Wall of Fame can foster healthy competition among students, encouraging them to push themselves to excel in their chosen endeavours. The How
The following criteria and eligibility shall be used to guide the determination of inductees on to the Hastings Boys' High School Wall of Fame:
They have been a student of Hastings Boys' High School and achieved national/international excellence or recognition on the national/international stage in their chosen field.
Sports people who have achieved national/world acclaimed titles/recognition
Artists and Performers who have performed on the international stage and received international recognition.
Writers published in several countries
Politicians/Businessmen or prominent citizens who had a major portfolio or position that put them on the international scene.
Science, Technology, Engineers and or Mathematicians who are responsible for the significant contribution to their field and innovation or breakthrough.
Other prominent citizens who had a major portfolio or position that put them on the international scene.
The selection decision process will remain confidential to the Hall of Fame Selection Committee.
The Process
The following process is for inductees of the Hastings Boys' High School Wall of Fame.
Nominations can be made at any time, however the committee will review throughout the year and will induct on an annual basis.
The Wall of Fame Selection Committee considers all eligible nominations that meet the Wall of Fame selection criteria.Committee members will research individuals identified by the Wall of Fame Selection Committee in accordance with timeframes established by the Committee.
A report will be provided to the committee confirming individual’s achievements that meet the criteria and are to be considered for inclusion on the Wall of Fame.
The Committee will make determination based on the selection criteria and quality of achievement, not the endorsement of nomination.
Upon confirmation of new inductees the committee will locate and select an appropriate photographic image.
